Last year 13 people from all over the U.S. came together to form Team Jarhead and participate in the Active For Autism Virtual 5K and Kids' Dash. Led by 9-year old captain Caleb and featuring Marines, family, and friends of all vintages, some well over 70, we raised almost $6,000 contributing greatly to the overall success of the event. We're doing it again! Come join us.
How, you ask? Register for the 5K. Join Team Jarhead. Raise money between now and April 11, and run or walk your 5K anytime from April 1-11. Our goal is to have at least 20 runners and raise $5,000.
All proceeds from the Active for Autism Virtual 5K will go to OAR’s Changing Lives Fund and will be used solely for direct research and programs support. In November, OAR will allocate the available funds to support one of OAR’s new research studies. Our goal is to raise $80,000, enough to fully fund two research studies. Any funds raised over $80,000 will go to support OAR’s mission to apply research to the challenges of autism.
WHY RUN FOR AUTISM? 1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. By joining the RUN FOR AUTISM team, you’re supporting OAR’s mission to fund research and resources that help people with autism and their families today. Thank you.
