With our 4 year old daughter, Colbie's Autism diagnosis last year, we have shifted our annual fundraising run to support the Organization for Autism Research this year. I chose this charity due to the resources they provide for adults with autism for job searches, autism research, and specific resources for military families on this journey. All proceeds from the Active for Autism Virtual 5K will go to OAR’s new Changing Lives Fund and will be used solely for direct research and programs support. In November, OAR will allocate the available funds to support one of OAR’s new research studies. Our goal is to raise $80,000, enough to fully fund two research studies.  Any funds raised over $80,000 will go to support OAR’s mission to apply research to the challenges of autism.
