Did you know that 3.5 million American's are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder*? As such between Oct. 20th and Dec. 13th - I will be attempting to run an average of 3.5 miles per day or 189 miles!

I am hoping that folks will sponsor those miles at a dollar each. Maybe you can sponsor 5 miles ($5) or maybe you can sponsor 20 miles ($20). Whatever you can do will help me toward my goal!

Unlike some organizations that work on Autism related issues, searching for "a cure" or otherwise harmful concepts, OAR really focuses on supporting folks living with ASD and their families in the present. Here are some of the ways your support can help:

$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers.
$25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders.
$100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school.
$150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation.
$1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism.
$3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college.
$40,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.

*I acknowledge that some folks prefer to call themselves Autistic and some folks prefer person first language (person with Autism) either way I respect your choice and will address the individual as they desire, here I try to stay as clinical as possible for consistency.
