Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 

The Organization for Autism Research will be at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on May 24, 2026! Join the RUN FOR AUTISM  team and help fund autism research and awareness. 
  

NEED AN ENTRY?

Runners who need an entry into the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon can apply to join the RUN FOR AUTISM team for guaranteed entry.  

Apply at the 2026 Application form. This form asks you to answer some questions about why you'd like to join the RUN FOR AUTISM team and to give an outline of how you plan to raise the $2,500 fundraising commitment. Strong applicants will provide detailed answers to each question and express a strong commitment to supporting the autism community. 

Applications are being evaluated on a rolling basis and all applicants will receive a status update (accepted, waitlisted, or rejected) within a month of submitting an application. 

If the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon does not become an Abbott World Major Race, OAR may decline to be a charity partner with the race for 2026. This decision will be made in November of 2025. Should this occur, all accepted OAR runners will be allowed to select another RUN FOR AUTISM event with open entries to register for, in place of Cape Town. All fundraising for Cape Town will transfer over to the new race. This decision will be made by early November 2025. 
 

HAVE AN ENTRY?

Runners who have already secured an entry into the race (through the lottery, Abbott World Major lottery, or another guaranteed entry path) can join the RUN FOR AUTISM team and fundraise for OAR.  Email run@researchautism.org to join the team.
 

FUNDRAISING COMMITMENT:

  • $2,500 (USD) – Need race entry into the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 
  • $250 (USD) – Already have your own entry into the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 

The first $800 in fundraising is due on December 15, 2025. Failure to meet this deadline may result in your removal from the team and race.  

All fundraising is due two weeks after the race: June 7, 2026.
