WHY RUN FOR AUTISM?
Just recently my son Jaxon was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety, ADHD and Autism. Everyday, Jaxon gets up and faces each day's joys and challenges. We ask him to do really hard things, things the rest of the world might find natural, and he does it. I want to do my best to link arms with Jaxon on his life journey and show him that I too will do hard things. I am not a runner, in fact, I hate running...so I will start by running.

Additionally, I am a Special Education Teacher and ask my students to do hard things, challenge them to be the best version of themselves, and help them realize their own potential. So by running and spreading awareness - I will show my students I will do the hard work too - push myself out of my comfort zone and push to my greatest potential. The best humans in this world are Autistic.

Here are some of the ways that OAR uses the funds raised by the RUN FOR AUTISM team:

$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers.
$25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders.
$100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school.
$150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation.
$1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism.
$3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college.
$40,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.
