Please consider supporting my 2026 NYC Marathon journey as I fundraise for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR).
As a theatre teacher, I have the privilege of working with many students with Autism in my day-to-day work. I have seen firsthand the incredible impact that informed, compassionate, and effective educators can have in supporting autistic students and helping them thrive. OAR's mission deeply aligns with the work that I do and the values that guide my teaching.
Equally important, OAR empowers autistic self-advocates by providing direct access to resources, including scholarships, employment mentorship, research, and family supports that make a real difference in people's lives.
As a recent graduate of NYU's Educational Theatre master's program, I have developed a deep appreciation for the role that research plays in improving educational practices and expanding opportunities for all learners. Evidence-based research is essential in helping educators, families, and communities better support autistic individuals, and I am proud to support an organization that prioritizes both research and real-world impact.
This will be my third marathon, and my first while teaching full-time in New York City's District 75, which provides highly specialized instructional support for students with significant support needs, including many students on the autism spectrum. Every day, I am reminded of the importance of creating spaces where all young people can learn, communicate, express themselves, and belong. Running for OAR is an opportunity to support that work beyond my classroom.
This cause is incredibly close to my heart, and I am honored to run in support of OAR and the autism community.
Please consider making a donation and supporting both OAR and me on this marathon journey. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Thank you so much for your support!
Here are some of the ways that OAR uses the funds raised by the RUN FOR AUTISM team:
$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers. $25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders. $100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school. $150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation. $1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism. $3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college. $50,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.
