I am excited to participate in the Active for Autism 5K in April to raise funds to support the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) organization.
Organization for Autism Research is a Charity Navigator 4-star charity dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by autism by supporting research that produces meaningful and practical results. They also provide free, evidence-based resources and information to families, educators, self-advocates, and professionals geared towards making day-to-day life easy for those affected by autism.
I am involved in the OAR’s Kit for Kids program which helps educate children about autism, providing a greater understanding of the disability and its characteristics, as expressed in school settings. This program helps children gain knowledge and leads to a more compassionate and inclusive classroom environment and beyond.
As a Youth Education Leader Volunteer for the Kits for Kids program in Northville, MI, I raise awareness about autism by educating elementary students in my community about those impacted by autism and how we can be kind and inclusive. I present the Kits for Kids "What's up with Nick" story in an inter-active style with the students, and it's been awesome! I have been passionate about helping young adults on the autism spectrum for a while and am excited to bring awareness to the younger groups of people.
I'd be grateful if you'd consider supporting the OAR by making a contribution to my fundraiser for the Active for Autism 5K. Every dollar I raise will advance Organization for Autism Research's great cause!
All proceeds from the Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash will go to OAR’s new Changing Lives Fund and will be used solely for direct research and programs support. More questions and answers regarding donations can be found at: https://support.researchautism.org/Static/faq
