I am excited that you're joining me on this meaningful journey. As I run the Berlin Marathon, I am also dedicating this effort to raising awareness and support for autism - a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.
Running has helped me a great deal, and in a bunch of different ways; mentally, physically, and even socially. Now that I am personally reaping the benefits that running offers, I made a bold move to share this wonderful and life-changing 'gift of running' to those who are in need , and will benefit more from it.
Please help me support by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Organization for Autism Research's great cause!
WHY RUN FOR AUTISM? 1 in 36 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. By joining the RUN FOR AUTISM team, you’re supporting OAR’s mission to fund research and resources that help people with autism and their families today.
Here are some of the ways that OAR uses the funds raised by the RUN FOR AUTISM team:
$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers. $25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders. $100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school. $150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation. $1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism. $3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college. $50,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.
Allow me to share my story on why I chose Run for Autism as my fundraiser . The night before the 2024 Sydney Marathon, a friend of mine messaged and floated the idea for her son's school to stand as one of the beneficiaries for these various races that happen quite frequently in Manila. This only child of hers is on the spectrum. A few weeks after, one of my team mates without qualms, showed her vulnerable side and courageously shared that her son was also diagnosed to be on the spectrum. Given these encounters and how close these turn of events happened to the Berlin Marathon registration, it made much sense to go for and support the Run for Autism cause.
Every stride I take represents hope, inclusion, and empowerment for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Your encouragement and generosity ignite my determination further to cross THAT finish line, both on the Berline Marathon course and in making a difference.
Together, we can create a world that celebrates neurodiversity and provides the resources and opportunities that everyone deserves. Let's turn every mile into a milestone for change!
Thank you for being part of this mission. Together, let us make this run count.
