This fall I will be participating in the 2021 Chicago Marathon as part of the Run For Autism Team. You may not know this, but I am on the autism, so being part of the Run For Autism Team is very personal to me.

Most training plans suggest 20 weeks of training before the race. With all this training (and hot baths too!) In front of me I wanted to make sure that my running has an impact beyond giving me sore knees. As a result, I am honored to give back to others and fundraise for autism as part of my Chicago Marathon goal.

Current research shows that 1 in 68 people are impacted by autism, but there's still so much that we do not know. I am only one person but, when combined with the efforts of the rest of the team, we can make a difference so that everyone impacted by autism has an opportunity to reach their full potential. Organization for Autism Research funds autism research and provides support for families impacted by autism.

Please consider donating to my fundraising effort.

WHY RUN FOR AUTISM?
1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. By joining the RUN FOR AUTISM team, you’re supporting OAR’s mission to fund research and resources that help people with autism and their families today.

Here are some of the ways that OAR uses the funds raised by the RUN FOR AUTISM team:

$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers.
$25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders.
$100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school.
$150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation.
$1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism.
$3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college.
$40,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.
