I have been inspired by Collin Cooper, a member of my church family to run the Big Sur Marathon. I attempted when I was 70 and then re-registered in 2021 to have it canceled twice. At age 73 it is a bit ambitious, but I am motivated to run in Collin's honor. My training was going well until two weeks ago when chest discomforts interrupted my running to undergo a full cardiac workup. Fortunately, my heart is fine (whew!) and I completed 14 miles on Sunday. Cell coverage is spotty on highway one, but I encourage donors and friends to text encouraging messages when the going gets harder after the halfway point. I am grateful for the privilege to run for this cause and the health I have been given.
