COVID-19 forced us to re-schedule our 5K. Then it forced us to go virtual. This opened the door for me to run instead of being race day support. Love it!

The pandemic has also placed a huge question mark over over our fundraising projections for the fall. So, Team Jarhead's mission is to run, have fun, and help OAR raise enough money to fund a new OAR research study this year. OAR wants to raise at least $40,000. Team Jarhead set out to raise at least $2,500. We're already there! So, as Marines tend to do, we're aiming higher and looking for the next piece of high ground. You can help by joining Team Jarhead (prior USMC not required, Friend of Mike is sufficient!) or donating. Thank you in advance.

As of today, there are 10 people on the team:

5 old Jarheads (Marines whose service began in 1970 or before),
1 old Jarhead's young wife :),
1 young Jarhead and his son with autism,
1 Autism grandfather and longtime OAR friend and runner, and
1 of my all-star staff members at OAR

In addition, another old Jarhead friend has organized a satellite event in College Station, TX, on July 25. Thank you, Brazos Valley Marine Corps League Detachment #1391. OOHRAH! Semper Fi

Thanks to a number of generous Jarhead, autism community, and longtime personal friends, we already met the original goal. Every dollar we raise will move us one step closer to our new goal. Please help by making a contribution to Team Jarhead and sharing this page with your family and friends.

Thank you.

WHY SUPPORT AUTISM RESEARCH?

1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. By contributing to Team Jarhead, you’re supporting OAR’s mission to fund research and resources that help people with autism and their families today.

Why support OAR?

It’s a good cause. Not just my saying that. For the last 5 years OAR has had a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator, and is the most highly rated, autism charity at that level. OAR is also “Top-Rated” by Great Nonprofits and has been in all nine years since they established the award.

Simply put, OAR does good work, and every dollar we raise through the Active For Autism 5K will go toward a new autism research study this year.

Thank you.
