As someone touched by Autism in various ways, I see how life can be a struggle for those who live "outside" the mainstream. From navigating education and work to social life and general interactions out in public. For Autistic People, the world is built on a narrow definition of "normal", and has not caught up to providing support, compassion or accommodations for neurodivergent people.
OAR is a research organization dedicated to helping people who are on the Autism Spectrum to receive the support and resources they need to live a happy and healthy life.
Having been diagnosed with Breast Cancer last year and undergoing a double mastectomy, running is now part of my "healing process" to regain the strength and vigor in my physical body.
By committing to run a 5K at Disney World on January 8, 2026 I am doing my part to raise both awareness and funds to support those on the Autistic Spectrum to be better equipped for life.
Please help me support Organization for Autism Research by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Organization for Autism Research's great cause!
Thank you so much! It is my pleasure and honor to raise money for this worthy organization and RUN for AUTISM in January 2026!
WHY RUN FOR AUTISM? 1 in 31 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. By joining the RUN FOR AUTISM team, you’re supporting OAR’s mission to fund research and resources that help people with autism and their families today.
Here are some of the ways that OAR uses the funds raised by the RUN FOR AUTISM team:
$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers. $25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders. $100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school. $150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation. $1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism. $3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college. $50,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.
