In April, on a flight home, after geeking out over all the London Marathon content, I found myself casually scrolling through the Chicago Marathon’s list of supporting charities... for the umpteenth time. Chicago has been a big goal and a dream of mine since I ran my first marathon in January 2025 (shout-out Miami <3). I shot for the stars and hopped on the waitlist to join team RUN FOR AUTISM in support of Organization for Autism Research this year... and they offered me a spot within a week!!!!! YAY! It was like Christmas in the spring!! I'm super excited and grateful for this opportunity and would LOVE your help fundraising!!!
OAR's mission is rooted in promoting understanding, acceptance, and meaningful opportunities for individuals with autism at all stages of life. They fund practical research and create evidence-based tools and resources that support individuals with autism, their families, educators, and professionals. Isn't that amazing?!?!
1 in 31 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. By partnering with me and the RUN FOR AUTISM team through donating, you’re supporting OAR’s mission to fund research and resources that help people with autism and their families today.
Here are some of the ways that OAR uses the funds raised by the RUN FOR AUTISM team:
• $10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers. • $25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders. • $100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school. • $150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation. • $1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism. • $3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college. • $50,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.
Your donation won't only support me in running my first EVER World Major (so dreamy! I still can't believe it's real!), but will also support a wonderful organization committed to tackling real-world challenges in education, employment, and daily life for the autism community!
Thank you so much for donating! I’m so grateful. 🥰
