I'm running the NYC Marathon to raise awareness and funds for autism awareness and research. This cause is near and dear to my heart, because my older brother Jason, has autism.

I'm so proud to fundraise for an organization that is providing resources to study autism, but more importantly to provide support to those with autism, and our communities. Awareness and education is critically important for our communities, both for the safety of those people living with autism, but also for the benefit of all of us. Jason will need lifelong support and guidance to perform regular tasks, but he also enjoys being out and about, grocery shopping, going for walks, going to Home Depot and going to church. It is truly heart warming when he is met with kindness and respect, and he deserves that. Did you know that 1 in 31 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism? The resources this organization provides for awareness can really make a difference in many lives.

How are your contributions used?

$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers.
$25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders.
$100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school.
$150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation.
$1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism.
$3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college.
$50,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.
