For anyone that knows me well - fundraising has always been an integral part of my life and advocating for children's causes has always been a passion of mine. Having a career in fundraising that spanned 10 plus years before having children truly led me to where I am today. After, having five boys with my husband Wael including twins Malek and Zain that live with Autism - I have made it my mission to not only advocate for Malek and Zain, but to be a voice for other families on the same journey as ours. I'm excited to share that I signed up with the New York City Marathon on the Run for Autism 2024 Team. This will be my second run with the team, but my first time running a marathon. I have a hefty goal and would be thankful for any donation big or small - every single dollar will add up to help me run for an amazing cause that is near and dear to my heart. For those that know me well, and know my family, we are profoundly affected by Autism, not because I have two beautiful boys who live with Autism, but I'm trying to raise them in a world, that's not always easy to navigate and comes with many challenges. I've always been a fierce advocate for not only them, but for families like ours. Sharing my voice, being open about our journey, not only makes life better for Malek and Zain, but it helps people gain a better understanding for families that live like ours. So PLEASE if you have the capacity, any at all please help me reach my goal to spread awareness about Autism and make all my boys proud by accomplishing this goal. Details below, and please reach out if you have any questions!!
Please help me support by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar (ANY AMOUNT) I raise will advance Organization for Autism Research's great cause and provide hope to families like ours.
WHY RUN FOR AUTISM? 1 in 36 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. By joining the RUN FOR AUTISM team, you’re supporting OAR’s mission to fund research and resources that help people with autism and their families today.
Here are some of the ways that OAR uses the funds raised by the RUN FOR AUTISM team:
$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers. $25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders. $100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school. $150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation. $1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism. $3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college. $50,000 fully underwrites an applied research pilot study.
