I have two favorite people on this planet. One of them is autistic. 🧩

I hate to admit it, but prior to Gavin's diagnosis I knew embarrassingly little about autism. In the years since I have learned volumes about autism and autistic people. I've also learned about the importance of autism research, community education, skills training, and therapy. After the love and support of their family, there is nothing more vital to an autistic person (especially an autistic child) than being provided with proper resources.

Our family is very, VERY lucky. Gavin has two parents that love him and can afford to get him literally thousands of dollars per year worth of treatment to help him develop the skills he will need to take on the challenges he will face during his life. Unfortunately, not all autistic people have the support system that Gavin has.

THIS IS WHERE WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! And the good news is it won't take you months of training in the grueling summer heat to help. So here's the deal...

I'll do the training and I'll run 26.2 miles across the city of Chicago this upcoming Fall. 🏅

All you have to do is click your mouse a few times and donate whatever you can spare to help support the Organization for Autism Research. 💵

And if you've bothered to read this far, regardless of whether or not you choose to donate, PLEASE SHARE THIS PAGE with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance Organization for Autism Research's great cause!

WHY RUN FOR AUTISM?
1 in 36 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism. By joining the RUN FOR AUTISM team, you’re supporting OAR’s mission to fund research and resources that help people with autism and their families today.

Here are some examples of the ways that OAR uses the funds raised by the RUN FOR AUTISM team:

$10 provides a Curriculum in a Box professional development set to general education teachers.
$25 provides 15 copies of A Guide to Safety to families and first responders.
$100 provides the Kit for Kids peer education resource to an entire elementary or middle school.
$150 provides 100 copies of a Life Journey through Autism guidebook sent to a community support group or military installation.
$1,000 provides a research grant for a graduate student studying autism.
$3,000 provides a scholarship for a student with autism to attend college.
